Monday's STAND BY ME Video

Last night I played guitar with several people from all over the world; it’s amazing the power of Youtube! They didn’t know it of course, but I played while watching and hearing people play and sing the classic: “Stand By Me”. It’s very inspirational and I thought you might want to start your week by viewing it. (If you want to play along it’s in the key of C and the chords are C, am, F and G). Enjoy!

Great Marketing Starts with 15 Minutes a Day

In everything we do, we must continue to improve; this includes our marketing. One word defines what is necessary in making this happen. I will share it after a few moments.

The secret of living is giving, and I believe that part of caring is sharing. That’s why I share with people ways to improve their marketing. A great way to market your products and services is with a blog. With my Master Blog Class course, I teach people to get a blog up in five minutes so they can benefit themselves and their business, forever.

To the readers of this blog, I know that you have certain goals related to marketing. I’m going to share with you one word that defines what many people either lack or they are constantly battling and hopefully improving. This is the one thing that keeps them from success in any life endeavor be it blogging, learning to play an instrument or even increasing cash flow for their business. That word is discipline.

You may remember the TV series called the A Team. My favorite character was Murdock, the guy who had bouts with insanity and either was a “character”, talked to what others perceived as “imaginary” characters, or both. One episode his imaginary self was that of an artist. I’ll always remember the line when he stated that “He trained inspiration to meet him here”. There really is a bit of that that does happen; so when it does, we need to be disciplined to be there when inspiration comes to meet us.

“Success always comes when preparation meets opportunity”

To come up with great marketing ideas, set aside a minimum of 15 minutes at the same time of the day on a regular basis and sit at your computer and research. Keep a word document open to type in your ideas (or use a yellow pad and transfer to a word document later). Learning an instrument? The same applies; spend one half hour daily, at the same time of the day, practicing. Want more money? Read 15 minutes daily from books and other materials from people who had or have more money. (Probably the very first step in all of this is to have a set time daily to read 15 minutes because as I’ve said before, “readers are leaders”).

When whatever it is that you want becomes your intense desire, you’ll find the “right” time and place to do this without being disturbed or dissuaded. Reading from Sylvester Stallone’s book about exercise (wow, this guy is the real deal and this is a good book; almost 5 stars by reviewers), he talks about getting up early to workout. Sometimes I think that the term “no pain no gain” means as much about the “inconvenience” of success as it does about the feeling and “hurt” of exercising. You may have to "get up early" to create some great ideas for marketing your business.

Well, this is my “15 minutes” with you for today. I hope you’ll join me in disciplining ourselves to set aside time on a regular basis to “sharpen our saw” so we can cut down the obstacles in the path of our dreams, goals and desires and... great marketing.

Dare to be Different

In your marketing, do you dare to be different?
I will soon be creating a product which will show the marketing world how to see what everyone else is doing, and then to do the exact opposite because… if you do so, you are more app to be successful.
So this morning, do you trust me? Here’s an idea that may work for your business. It’s been around for years, but few use it. If your business is a retail establishment such as a hardware, or similar, try it this week as an experiment and let me know how it worked for you.
It’s easy, here’s what you do. Tell all (or most) of your employees to park closer to your building in the customer parking spots (except for the handicapped) instead of the usual employee parking area. See if this doesn’t bring in more business from the drive by traffic. Try this during "slow" days or times, and also when neighboring businesses are having specials that are creating drive by traffic. People will wonder “What’s happening at (your business name) store?”

Get your press release out there.

The three rules for placing a press release are:
  1. it needs to be
  2. news, it needs to be interesting
  3. and it needs NOT to be advertising.
In my local area I place simple press releases to all the local media for just $9.99 to generate sales for my other marketing services. I do the same for any business person across the country but the press release goes to most media in their local area, and Internet sources. The fee for this is $350 per press release. Details are at www.terscott.com/pressreleaseservice. If you have trouble getting to the right page on my www.terscott.com site, email me at: terscottpromotes AT yahoo.com (don’t use spaces and replace the AT with the @ sign).
Make it a great day!

"How did you find us" Marketing Questions

OK, it's not "Monday" so sue me. OK, please don't do that either, there's too much of that going on. How about just looking at this on Monday, or read it now and remember to use it on Monday. Yeah, that's better!

Here are three tips to find out how someone finds your store or website. You can get more complete definition for each at my other blog: http://marketingmasterclass.blogspot.com/ by clicking here. For now, here they are, short and sweet:

How did you find “Us”? Just ask 3 Things.
1.       How did you find us? Ooh, that’s a tough one!
2.       What do you think of our store (or website)? This is a great open ended question which can elicit many responses; that’s good.
3.       Did you see any reviews? This can mean “anything” from any word of mouth marketing (notice I call this word of mouth “marketing” and not “advertising") to an online review. Do these three things every time a customer visits and you’ll know more about your customers, and your business!
Know this and you'll start to know more about your customer ... and your business!
