Before you print anything, run it by someone.
When I create logos, I like to run it by people who are
between the ages of 8 to 10. I show it to them and ask: “What is this”?
By asking kids this question they are brutally honest and if
they know what it is, usually people who are older will know.
Also, I like to ask the opinion of people who are outside
the field or industry that the artwork or marketing will be used. For instance
if I’m doing a logo for an assisted living company I might ask someone very far
removed from this as possible such as a young college aged person. If I was
creating a logo for a plumbing company, I might ask someone who is in
accounting. Surely, an accountant may need a plumber, but he or she certainly
has a different perspective. Always when asking, simply ask: “What is this” and
shut up. The response will be very revealing. Let them go to what they go to,
the color, the design, shape, etc. and take note.
Finally, many a business card could be saved from a costly reprint
if it was just run by someone who could see that you’ve left your phone number,
web address, or misspelled a word. I actually have a service in which for only
10% of your ad cost, I will offer my expert opinion. See the details at: www.terscott.com/advice10.
Before I go, I want to tell you how to save on all of your
imprinted promotional items, get great service, and even get free shipping on
your first order. Go to www.myimprintrep.com/123order
and for more details visit: http://newtonrep.blogspot.com/
That’s it for now. Be sure to run all of your marketing
materials by someone before to publish them and save cost and embarrassment!
